Thats just it, it ISNT steel , its Deldrimor Steel (liken it to steel vs Stainless Steel in R/L) and is rarer in the game than the other items quoted (have you ever had any drop??).
Just be thankful there are people out there that take the time to farm the mats and make it to sell to the trader, or the price would be much higher .

You think the trader wanting 12.5k more than you're willing to give for something that you don't even need is extortion? ...and you own two sets of FoW? Seriously?
Buy from other players or craft your own. Problem solved.

They gave up like I did as with Favour being the way it is and all the 150 ecto and shards you need compared to other 15K armours even Kurzick and Luxon don't need that amout of amber and jadeite.

I read what you said. It was kind of silly to say that Deldrimor Steel - an item that has no real-world equivalent - is somehow "extortionate". It's a fantasy game with fantasy prices.
To answer you question though, the going price for a stack of anything is usually somewhere between the trader's selling price, and the price the trader buys it for. For example, if the trader sells DS for 800 and buys it for 400 (just an example, I don't know what the real prices are, atm), then the price of a stack should be around 250 x 600 = 150k.
In the case of DS, being able to craft it adds another wrinkle into it. Since yo very seldom get DS as any sort of drop (I have gotten it from hidden treasures in dungeons) and it doesn't salvage from common items, it's very hard to find anyone selling a stack. Most people either just buy it from the trader, or craft it.

Approximately exactly 250 times what I'd pay for one which, from other players, is the average of buy price and sell price from the trader.

1 Charcoal - easily farmed from Fire Imps or Hulking Stone Elementals
10 Iron - easily salvaged from lots of wands, swords, axes, etc.
5 Glittering Dust - easily salvaged from many items
200g
Materials crafters will make it for you cheaper than buying it. Even buying the Charcoal, Iron, Dust, and paying the 200g can be cheaper. Charcoal is usually less than 200g each, 10 Iron is usually about 200g, and 10 Dust is usually less than 200g. Buying from the Rare Material Trader usually costs 800-850g per Deldrimor Steel, yet crafting it would cost 200+200+200+200 at most, and still leave you with 5 Dust left over.
Not a big deal, especially since not many armors require it, and those that do require less than 50 total. Why anyone would buy a stack is beyond me.
